We live in a time when most everything is readily available to us; fruits, veggies, flowers etc. What was once rare or seasonal is now ordinary and taken for granted, which is why I make a point to paint Mother Nature's beautiful miracles. I think of these paintings as “portraits” rather than “still lifes.” My creative process begins when I take a morning walk in my garden, choose the subject, and make an arrangement. After lunch, I begin to paint on location or in my studio. I got hooked on painting flora because I can paint purely as an observer, rather than “the creator” as is the case with the animals, which come from my imagination.
